The Circularity Assessment of a product or service is the analysis required to maximize efficiency in the use and utilization of materials and resources for the production of the product or service. Circularity Assessment allows, on the one hand, for the minimization of waste and, on the other, for the recovery of any waste that is generated, resulting in products and services that are sustainable from an economic, social, and environmental standpoint.
The results obtained from the circularity assessment provide companies with useful information to identify areas where they can improve their overall performance in terms of circularity. When combined with an analysis of environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle of a product or service, this study enables companies to improve their overall sustainability. Thanks to this study, companies can identify areas for improvement and new business opportunities to create long-term value; monitor progress toward circularity goals both internally and with investors; reduce environmental impacts; and mitigate exposure to long-term risks.
eLoop works alongside the company starting from the product/service design phase to assess its durability, standardization and compatibility, maintenance and repair, upgradeability and adaptability, and finally, disassembly and reassembly. We then conduct a materials analysis and a cost analysis. We then evaluate how the competitiveness strategy is integrated into product/service development processes, focusing on the use of a life-cycle cost (LCC) model and on environmental sustainability aspects, calculating the environmental impacts of the product/service throughout its entire life cycle (LCA) using a “cradle-to-cradle” approach.
Subsequently, the Circularity Assessment aims to identify business opportunities arising from all potential material recirculation and waste valorization, both within the company (internal) and through collaboration with external agents/stakeholders, following the criteria of the Circularity Hierarchy (Repair-Reuse-Refurbishment-Remanufacturing-Recycle).
